GVS Football Academy

To make healthy and drug free society and to find out future star like Bhaichung Bhutia Sangathan has established a full residential FOOTBALL ACADEMY at Central Pendam on march 2008 and successfully running it. In this football Academy a residential Hostel is running with all required facilities for 20 best under 12 years footballers selected from all over the Sikkim.

FOOTBALL WORKSHOP FOR COACHES / TEACHERS AND YOUTH

Gram Vikash Sangathan (NGO) Pendam, organized the FOOTBALL WORKSHOP FOR COACHES / TEACHERS AND YOUTH at Central Pendam on 11th and 12th August 2008. Sports Teachers and best two footballers from 13 Schools, i.e. Junior High School, Secondary School & Sr.Sec.School of Central Pendam Constituency were invited to participate in this workshop. Apart from that Youth footballer of the Central Pendam and GVS Football Academy Students of Central Pendam also participated in this programme. Total 50 Participants including Sports Teachers, Youths & GVS Football Academy students attended in this programme.

This programme was completely organized under the guidance, direction and interest of Shri Somnath Poudyal, our Hon’ble Area MLA- Cum- Minister for Food Security, Agriculture & Horticulture and Cash Crop Department, Government of Sikkim.

The theme of the programme was SAY NO TO DRUGS. As games & sports is the effective medium to divert our younger generation and youth towards healthy lifestyle, discipline and keeping away them from Drugs.

In this programme, all most all the high dignitaries of the Central Pendam Constituency were present in the closing ceremony of the programme. The Zilla Panchayat member, all the Panchayats of East Pendam GPU, Central Pendam GPU, West Pendam GPU, Officers of different Department from Singtam, Rangpo, Officers from Block Administrative Centre Duga, Retired officers of Central Pendam, School Managing Committee, general public of Central Pendam, group of footballer students representatives and teachers from 13 (Thirteen) different schools of constituency, teachers and students of T.N. Sr.Sec.School, Central Pendam was present to witness the Closing Ceremony of the said programme.

Shri Somnath Poudyal, our Hon’ble Area MLA- Cum- Minister for Food Security, Agriculture & Horticulture and Cash Crop Department, Government of Sikkim was the Chief Guest and Shri K.P. Adhikari, Commissioner- cum- Secretary, Sports & Youth Affairs Department was the Guest of Honor in the closing ceremony of the programme. The programme was addressed by Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, Course Director- United State of America (USA) and Course Director-Bhutan. The students of T.N. Sr. Sec. School presented three ethnic group dances i.e. Bhutia, Lepcha & Nepali Dance. The welcome address was given by Shri G.R.Guragain President of Sangathan and Vote of thanks was presented by Shri D.R.Dulal Publicity Secretary of the Sangathan.
